Reigning champions West Witney were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Carterton in the Witney & District FA Premier Division on the opening day of the season, writes ANTHONY BARLOW.

Carterton took the lead through Mike Bolt, with Ian Sparkes scoring a second-half leveller.

Chipping Norton Town crushed promoted visitors Aston 3-0, with goals from Keiran Watts, Warwick Thompkins and Gary Smith.

In Division 1, Dean Matthews bagged a brace as promoted Carterton Pumas got off to a flying start with a 5-1 home win against Brize Norton.

Kai Merrett, Carl Naughton and Luke Davenport completed their tally, with Pawel Bronk replying.

A Chris Lawrence double was in vain as FC Nomads lost 5-2 at home to Bourton Rovers, for whom Mark Payne (2), Sam Mattock (2) and Matt Winter netted.

Eynsham Sports went down to a 5-4 defeat at home to Kingham.

John Ayres (2), Martin Cripps and Dan Clifford netted for the hosts, but Ash Thornton (2), Dom Hemmings (2) and Gareth Price sealed it for Kingham.

John Andrews hit a hat-trick for Hailey Res in a 3-1 win at home to Spartan Rangers. Donovan Henderson replied for Spartan.

Dan Hall was another hat-trick hero as Carterton Rangers won 3-0 at Milton in Division 2.

Ryan Oliver notched a treble in Ducklington Res’ 5-1 home thrashing of Finstock.

Scott Mason and Will Brown got the others, with Justin Keyani replying.

FC Mills lost 5-1 at home to Bampton Town.

Adam Lee and Ollie Hawkins bagged a brace apiece, with Joe William also on target. Dan Godden provided Mills’ lone reply.

Kirtlington rallied from 2-0 down to beat Witney Wanderers 3-2.

Strikes from Stuart Morrison and Stuart Hudson gave Witney the advantage, only for Sam Bodinham, Anthony Brooker and Shane Probbitts to secure a turnaround.

Charlie Yeomans hit a double-hat trick on his debut as Middle Barton thumped Bourton Rovers Res 9-0 at home in Division 3.

An Ashley Scearce double and a Martin Kay strike completed their tally.

Ollie Bush’s hat-trick helped Carterton Town to a 7-1 win at Kingham Res.

Dan Sollis’s double, plus strikes from Jason Hirschfield and John Smales made up Carterton’s tally after Richard French gave Kingham the lead.

Bampton United hammered Chipping Norton Town Res 4-0, with Nathan Beckett (3) and Connor Kelley on target.

Ciaran Clarke, Shaun Rawlings and Colin Tyrell netted for Brize Norton Res as they beat Ducklington A 3-1. Ian Luckett replied.
