FOOTBALL: Fuller strike keeps Didcot's dream alive
10:10am Wednesday 20th March 2013 in Sat Local
Lee Fuller hit the crucial goal as Didcot Casuals won 2-1 at Division 1 title rivals Faringdon Town to keep the pressure on North Berks League leaders Saxton Rovers, writes Phil Annets.
With Saxton, like many other sides, sidelined by the wet weather, Casuals closed the gap at the top to six points – and have two games in hand on the pacesetters.
Liam Humphreys cancelled out Fletcher Hoey’s early opener for Didcot before Fuller struck decisively to sink the third-placed side and seemingly end their title bid.
Lewis Monaghan, Callum Bowler and Andy Taylor scored for Long Wittenham Athletic in their 3-1 home win over Kintbury Rangers. Two goals from Jason Fisher earned East Hendred a point at Childrey United, for whom Steve Vaux and Sam Weeks netted in the 2-2 draw.
A Josh McInnerny penalty and a Billy Warner 25-yard drive gave Dorchester a 2-1 home win over Division 2 high -fliers Abingdon United Res, who had taken the lead through Danny Cox.
Bottom club Benson Lions won 2-1 away to Lambourn Sports Res. An Alex Fleming strike and an own goal delivered the unlikely victory for the Lions.
Childrey United Res ex-tended their lead at the top Division 3 to four points with a 2-1 win at Marcham Res.
Wayne Gregory and Paris Cleary scored their goals, with Ryan Drew replying for Mar-cham.
