11:00am Wednesday 5th September 2012 in Non League
Oxford City secured their first home win of the season in Blue Square Bet North with a 4-2 triumph over Boston United at Court Place Farm on Tuesday night.
Mike Ford’s men got off to a cracking start as they went ahead with the match just three minutes old. Jack Mills’s free-kick found Andy Gunn, who headed home.
The advantage was short-lived, however, Boston leveling eight minutes later as Ian Ross’s free-kick was netted by Spencer Weir-Daley.
And the visitors went 2-1 up in the 18th minute when the same player pounced for his second of the game.
Boston keeper Dan Haystead saved smartly from a Gunn header to keep his side in front at the break.
It did not take long for City to make their mark in the second half. Nebil Shariff sent substitute Kynan Isaac away and his cross was met by Darren Pond on 47 minutes.
City keeper Warren Carter saved a long-range effiort from Ian Ross, before City made it 3-1 in the 51st minute when Mills’s free-kick from 35 yards found the back of the net.
And City made sure of the points late on.
Isaac outpaced the Boston defence before squaring the ball to fellow substitute Felipe Barcelos, who has the simple task of slotting home .
