Oxford City 1 (McIIwain 2, Mekki 70)

Swindon Super 1 (Morris 54)

Ten-man Oxford City boosted their hopes of escaping the drop with their second league win of the season at Court Place Farm on Saturday.

It was the first time that Mike Ford’s side had tasted victory since last November, though they are still in the drop zone.

City had the perfect start when Craig McIllwainheaded home after Wayne Blossom flicked on Dave Savage’s corner.

At the other end, keeper Jakub Jesionkowski did well to push away a dangerous shot from Luke Hopper.

Supermarine’s former City keeper Will Puddy had to scramble twice to deny James Faulkner from scoring following his first-team recall.

However, after ten minutes after the break, Supermarine levelled when Sam Morris broke clear before slotting in.

But it wasn’t long before City got themselves back into the lead when James Clarke’s cross came to Aldershot loannee Adam Mekki, who scored his first City goal.

Ten minutes from time, City were reduced to ten men when Jack Ashton was sent off for a second booking, but City held on for victory.
