DIDCOT Town boosted their chances of making the play-offs with a 2-0 derby victory away to North Leigh last night.

Goals from Felipe Barcelos and Cameron McNeill put Andy Ballard’s side back into the top six of the Evo-Stik South League West Division.

Another victory in their final match at home to Paulton Rovers tomorrow would virtually guarantee them a place in play-offs, barring a massive win by closest rivals Cirencester Town over Shortwood United on the same day.

Didcot got off to the perfect start, taking the lead in the second minute.

Felipe Barcelos pounced on a short back pass and beat Millers’ keeper Ross Grimshaw with

ease.

With goal difference likely to be a key factor, the visitors pressed forward and Callum McNish went close from a narrow angle.

But only a brilliant low save from keeper Leigh Bedwell prevented the hosts equalising just before half-time.

The visitors dominated the early stages of the second half, and George Reid, brought into the side for the injured Seth Humphries, twice went close.

They finally doubled their lead midway through the half when the hosts failed to clear a corner and McNeill made it 2-0.

The Millers, who made Didcot work hard for their win, still have two home league games to play– against Larkhall Athletic tomorrow and Cinderford Town on Monday.

Meanwhile, Kidlington won 3-0 at home to Shortwood, who are quitting the league at the end of the season.

Conor McDonagh put the Greens ahead after 23 minutes with a cracking long-range shot.

Substitute Callum Harvey marked his return by making it 2-0 in the 67th minute.

Then two minutes from time, Declan Benjamin added a third goal.

Strikers Lynton Goss and Dan West both hit first-half hat-tricks as Thame United routed visitors Arlesey Town 7-1 in the East Division.

The hosts scored five goals in the 15 minutes before half-time as they built a massive 6-0 interval lead.

Goss’s treble, which included a penalty, came in just 11 minutes.

After the break, the goals dried up and Arlesey pulled a goal back in the 80th minute.

West added his fourth goal in the 87th minute to complete a comprehensive victory

Mark West’s side finish their programme at home to Kempston Rovers tomorrow.

l BANBURY United enjoyed a 2-0 victory at Frome Town in the Premier Division on Wednesday night.
