OXFORD City were rueing a late penalty miss as they drew 1-1 away to Wealdstone in the Vanarama National South League.

City substitute Kevan Cotter was pushed over inside the box in the 89th minute, but Rob Sinclair blazed the spot-kick over the bar.

Mark Jones’s side had gone ahead after nine minutes.

The ball fell kindly to Matt Paterson after Wealdstone keeper Ravan Constable made an initial save, leaving the striker with the simple task of tapping into an empty net.

The visitors, who had been much the better side, deserved their 1-0 interval lead.

But three minutes after the break, David Pratt fired home from close range to put the Stones level.

City, who complete their league programme with a visit to Poole Town tomorrow, had a chance to win it, but Sinclair’s miss meant they had to settle for their second draw of the week
