KIDLINGTON reached the final of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup when beating Banbury United 3-2 after extra time in a thrilling tie.

Anaclet Odhiambo scored the winner in the 114th minute at Court Place Farm to set up a clash against Oxford City.

The Greens were denied an early penalty and both sides were restricted to ten men before half-time.

Banbury’s Luke Carnell was sent off on 42 minutes, only for Kidlington’s Ben Brown to be dismissed moments later.

The Puritans took the lead when Ricky Johnson headed home a Tom Winters cross.

But Kidlington equalised on 89 minutes through James Organ.

There was more late drama as Johnson struck in the sixth minute of added time, only for it to be ruled out for offside.

Mark Janes then fired Kidlington into a 2-1 lead on 108 minutes, but he went from hero to villain after fouling Leam Howards in the area.

The Banbury man picked himself up to score.

But seconds later, Kidlington secured victory when Odhiambo netted.

Meanwhile, Didcot Town’s Bigfreebet.com Challenge Cup final against Hitchin Town fell foul of the weather again.

The Hertfordshire side called off last night’s tie due to a waterlogged pitch.

It has been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 18.

North Leigh’s West Division status is still not secure.

The South League have confirmed to the Oxford Mail that Shortwood United’s withdrawal next season does not mean the other sides are safe.

Whoever finishes last will be relegated.
