OXFORD City’s players take a well-earned break this weekend after their exit from the Buildbase FA Trophy.

After a testing schedule, which has nonetheless seen them stretch their unbeaten league run to six games, boss Mark Jones is happy for his squad to rest up.

They drew 1-1 at St Albans last weekend in a game which saw them lead at the break, only to be clinging on at the death as fatigue set in.

Jones said: “We were on our last legs in the last half-hour.

“We were really zapped for energy. I felt we really started to struggle physically in the second half.

“But that’s hardly surprising given the month we’ve had, with the FA Cup game at Notts County and some really tough league games.

“I’m not going to criticise any of our players because of the monumental efforts we have put in. We have some time to get some decent training into the lads and hopefully get a few players fit.

“Having this break will give us a chance to get a couple back and I don’t think it’s a bad thing to have a break before the Christmas games.”
