BANBURY United are without a game tomorrow after their match against Slough was postponed due to their rivals’ FA Cup involvement.

But boss Mike Ford was quick to praise his side after a battling performance against Hereford in midweek.

Banbury lost 1-0 in front of more than 1,000 fans on Tuesday, but their performance pleased the Puritans manager.

He said: “The players played without fear. We did much better than in recent weeks against the biggest club in our league.”

Banbury travel to Premier Division basement boys Gosport Borough in the Evo-Stik South League next Tuesday, and Ford believes his side will benefit from a weekend off.

“It’s quite nice to have a Saturday off,” he said.

“We’re 11 games in and it gives us a chance to take stock and evaluate where we are.

“Tuesday night was good for us, because we were firing on all cylinders and helped us realise that we really can compete against the top sides.”
