OXFORD City left it late to progress in the Emirates FA Cup, eventually overcoming Leiston 4-2 with two stoppage-time goals, writes RYAN BRATLEY.

The Bostik League Premier Division visitors had led twice in the third qualifying round tie.

But they were left with no time to respond, when Ezra Forde struck in the 91st minute, before Rob Sinclair made sure of City’s place in today’s draw.

Leiston took an early lead, against the run of play, Byron Lawrence’s effort taking a deflection off Godfrey Poku on its way into the back of the net.

They could have doubled their advantage almost immediately as an error in defence forced goalkeeper Jack Stevens into a good save.

But the lead only lasted for ten minutes, City drawing level thanks to Joe Oastler’s firm near-post header from an Eddie Jones corner.

The hosts struggled to break down the organised Leiston defence and found themselves reduced to half chances, Jack Tutton and Dave Pearce both failing to convert crosses into the box.

Despite having less of the play, the visitors once again took the lead with 15 minutes to go as the lively Matt Blake latched onto a ball down the right channel and produced a lovely first-time finish into the far corner.

The goal sparked City into life, equalising for a second time in the 81st minute through Pearce’s half-volley from 12 yards.

The hosts continued to press and were rewarded in the first of five added minutes as Forde’s backheel found the bottom corner.

Forde then turned provider, squaring to an unmarked Sinclair, who tapped home to put the game to bed with a minute left to play.
