SCOTT Davies will not return for Oxford City next season, but Mark Jones has retained five more of the squad from the last campaign.

The former Oxford United midfielder has joined Chelmsford City, who lost in the Vanarama National League South play-off final to Ebbsfleet United last month.

While City could not match the contract offer for Davies, next season’s squad is taking shape.

Godfrey Poku, Lee Henderson, Craig Hill, Ezra Forde and Reece Fleet will all return, while talks are ongoing with Freddie Grant and Guri Demuria.

It comes hot on the heels of deals for new signings striker Justin Bennett and defender Joe Oastler.

Jones said: “I’m delighted to add all five players to the squad for next year.

“They were all very important last season and we’re looking forward to trying to improve upon what we achieved.

“I’m delighted to have got them all over the line and we hope that they can have a successful season for us.”

He added: “(Scott) was a good player for us and we wish him all the best at Chelmsford.”
