DIDCOT Town are to replay their controversial game against Hereford behind closed doors after deciding not to appeal to the Football Association

Following discussions with Thames Valley Police, both clubs made the request to the Evo-Stik Southern League to play the game behind closed doors which has been agreed.

It will now be played at the Railwaymen's Loop Meadow Stadium next Tuesday (April 11).

Referee Wayne Chalmers halted the original Division 1 South & West contest on March 4 after visiting fans invaded the pitch in the 88th minute after taking a 2-1 lead.

After the league originally directed the clubs to replay the fixture, Didcot intended to appeal to the Football Association.

Didcot chairman John Bailey said: “I know the league are abiding by their rules, but in this instance we didn’t think that it was sensible to play the game.

"Now the league have allowed us to play behind closed doors, we won't be appealing."
