MANAGER Mark Jones believes a change in fortunes is just around the corner for his Oxford City side when they visit struggling Bishop’s Stortford tomorrow.

A 1-0 defeat against play-off chasing Poole Town extended their winless run to four games in Vanarama National League South.

But Jones was pleased with City’s vastly-improved display and believes a victory is just around the corner.

He said: “It was much better against Poole. I didn’t think we deserved to lose, as there really wasn’t a lot in the game.

“We had a 20-25 minute spell in the second half where we were on top, but we couldn’t find the net.

“It looked as though we’d get a draw, but unfortunately they scored a late goal out of nothing.”

Jones takes his side to Stortford tomorrow and believes a win will all-but guarantee their status.

He said: “It’s a massive game for both sides, there’s no disguising that.

“We are nine points outside the relegation zone, but they are really struggling.

“If we can be really positive and go all out to win the game, three points would almost secure our position in the league.”

City are likely to be without striker Mike Fondop, who is still struggling with a hamstring injury.

But Jones believes his team are still more than capable of scoring plenty of goals tomorrow if they get the rub of the green.

“We just need a little more belief going forward,” he said.

“Over the last couple of months, our problem has been that we’ve created many good positions but just lacked that end product. That was evident again last week.

“If we keep on creating chances, goals will come. I’m sure somewhere down the line we will put three or four past someone”

Connor Furlong, Guri Demuria and George Essuman will, once again, be included in the squad, but defender Jean-Yves Niate is ruled out through injury.
