ANACLET Odhiambo will not allow his costly penalty miss to affect him this weekend, according to Kidlington boss Julian McCalmon.

Having scored once, Kidlington’s 21-goal striker missed a crucial spot-kick as the Greens were beaten 2-1 by Potters Bar Town last Saturday.

But McCalmon believes there will be no knock-on effect for Odhiambo as they travel to Arlesey Town in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 Central tomorrow.

“I know that will have hurt, but he won’t allow that to affect his performance,” said McCalmon.

“If anything, it’ll only make him more determined to score this weekend.”

Kidlington welcome back defender Chris Weedon from a knee injury, but remain without Henry Owen (ribs) and Ben Weedon (hamstring).

Banbury United manager Mike Ford urged his side to extend their eight-match unbeaten run in the Premier Division as they host struggling St Neots Town.

After surrendering a two-goal lead in Tuesday’s 2-2 draw at Weymouth, Ford is looking for a response.

He said: “There were a few disappointed players after the match, but they were quick to recover.

“We’re in a good run of form at the moment, but I want to turn that into an excellent run – that’s 11 or 12 games.”

Ricky Johnson (knee) remains out, but Jacob Blackstock is likely to return to the squad after missing out on Tuesday.

Wantage Town manager Ben Sadler admitted his side have only a slim chance of victory away to in-form Taunton Town in Division 1 South & West.

While the Alfredians’ winless run stretched to ten games with a heartbreaking 1-0 defeat to Salisbury last weekend, Taunton inflicted a first league defeat on leaders Hereford before putting ten goals past Larkhall Athletic on Tuesday.

“We have to approach it similarly to the Salisbury game – just make ourselves difficult to beat and accept we’re not going to see a lot of the ball,” said Sadler.

“Realistically we know that something has to go drastically wrong for them and we have to have the game of our lives to win it.”

Young forward Kalum Youngsam could be in line for his debut after signing from Cirencester Town, but Wantage are still without Harvey Scholes (ankle), Adam Doyle (knee), and Tai Hulbert-Thomas (hernia).

Will Wellon could make his North Leigh debut away to former club Evesham United.

The defender joined the Millers from Evesham last weekend, but was forced to wait for his first appearance after matches at home to Yate Town on Saturday and then away to Bishops Cleeve on Tuesday were postponed.

“There’s a good chance that could happen,” said manager John Brough.

“We have an opening at the back, so there’s an opportunity for him to come straight in.

“I imagine it will be strange for him, but I’m sure he’ll be prepared for it.”

Fellow Evesham old boy Matt Sysum is suspended, while top-scorer George Seacole is out with a hamstring problem.

Didcot Town have signed 18-year-old winger Ricardo Andrade from Woking ahead of their home clash with Shortwood United.

Having seen the youngster in action in training, player-manager Andy Ballard was impressed.

He said: “He’s very young, but he has great hunger and a desire to succeed.

“He wants to get out and play and test himself in senior football and we’re happy to offer him an opportunity.

“A lot of young lads who come out to this level from full-time football think it’s going to be easy, but I don’t think he is that kind of character.

“He’s not looked out of place in training and if he can replicate it in a proper match he could have a bright future ahead of him.”

Ryan Barney (hamstring) and Jack Longford (knee) are both injured.
