STEPHANE Ngamvoulou fired in the winner as Oxford City completed a holiday double over St Albans City at Marsh Lane yesterday.

The hosts followed their 4-2 Boxing Day victory at Clarence Park with a 2-1 win to give boss Mark Jones his third victory in as many matches.

After Scott Davies fired wide from Josh Ashby’s cross, Reece Fleet put City ahead in the sixth minute.

Davies’s corner was not cleared by the visitors’ defence and Fleet netted from close range.

With Ngamvoulou continuing to pose problems, City created other good chances, but James Roberts ballooned the best of them over the bar.

For St Albans, Josh Hill headed wide, while Graham Mongomery forced a good save from City keeper Tyrell Belford.

Saints equalised in the 52nd minute when a long ball eluded the City defence and veteran striker Jamie Cureton ran on to net past the advancing Belford.

City regained the lead six minutes later.

Jefferson Louis ran down the right and a drilled shot across goal which was laid off by Davies to give Ngamvoulou an easy tap-in.

St Albans responded immediately, as a chance fell to Sam Merson, who blazed over.

Another run down the right from Louis found Roberts, who evaded several challenges before firing into the side-netting.

Near the end, a shot from Fleet on the edge of the box cleared the clubhouse into the car park.

However, City held on to maintain Jones’s 100 per cent

record.
