BANBURY United manager Mike Ford is hopeful his side can continue their hot streak in front of goal at home to Cinderford Town tomorrow.

Five different scorers found the net in the Puritans’ 5-0 win over Hayes & Yeading last weekend and Ford expects more of the same as his side host the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division’s basement team.

“I don’t mind where the goals come from, as long as we keep scoring them,” he said.

“We may not have a 25-goal striker at the club, but we’ve shown we have goals throughout the team.”

Again Ford has a full-strength side to choose from.

John Brough could look to add to his squad over the festive period to enable his North Leigh side to cope with a growing backlog of fixtures in the new year.

The Millers return to action in Division 1 South & West tomorrow at home to high-flying Evesham United, having seen two league matches postponed in the last week due to bad weather and their historic Buildbase FA Trophy run.

Brough’s side now have as many as five matches in hand on some of the sides above them, leaving them with a busy schedule ahead.

“It’s not a problem at the present time, but January and February are going to be full-on,” Brough said.

“Hopefully the squad we’ve got will be big enough and good enough to deal with it.

“If we can bring in one or two more over the Christmas period, that’ll be a big boost to the whole club.

“It may be that we need to do that to deal with the fixture backlog.”

Suspension rules out Michael Hopkins and captain Stuart Hole, who won’t play until next year as he starts a four-match ban.

Midfielder Jon Else is also out with a hamstring injury, but the Millers welcome back Bradley Gray and Matt Sysum, who have been cup-tied.

Defender Sam Elkins is a doubt with an ankle injury as Didcot Town travel to Shortwood United.

Injury also rules out Jack Longford (knee) and Nick Thorne (dead leg).

Player-manager Andy Ballard hopes to cap a hectic week with success, having missed out last weekend due to the birth of his son last week.

“It has been extremely busy, but you can’t plan for these things,” Ballard said.

“Obviously family comes first and the football has had to take a bit of a backseat.

“Fortunately, Ian (Lovegrove, assistant manager) and the other lads at the club took the reins last weekend and got the job done.”

In Division 1 Central, Kidlington’s injury crisis continues as they host Arlesey Town, with striker Jack Dunmall sidelined with shoulder ligament damage.

Ben Weedon, Chris Weedon, Ben Willoughby, Kristian Thomas and Charlie Wise are also injured, but skipper Tom Franklin, Lewis Gabbidon and Jack Quainton return from suspension and Tommy Castle and Watheq Al-Hakam are available.
