BANBURY United moved up to seventh with an impressive 5-0 victory at home to Hayes & Yeading.

The Puritans were 2-0 up inside five minutes of the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division encounter.

Jack Westbrook’s long free-kick bounced over goalkeeper Danny Boness and into the net, before Callum White drove home the second.

Hayes looked to respond straight away, but Cole Brown and Mitchell Weiss headed wide.

Ricky Johnson had an effort ruled out for offside on 25 minutes, but he did not have to wait long to get on the scoresheet, finding the top corner just moments later.

It could have been 4-0 before half-time, only for Connor McDonagh to see his effort cleared off the line by Brown after the Banbury striker had slid the ball past Boness.

The visitors improved after the break, but the result was put beyond doubt on 71 minutes when Conor McDonagh hammered home.

Darius Brown found the bottom corner late on to put the icing on the cake.

The Railwaymen made it 2-0 in spectacular fashion on 52 minutes, when Sam Elkins scored with a bicycle kick.
