TOP-SCORER Mike Fondop returns as Oxford City welcome Hungerford Town to Marsh Lane in Vanarama National League South tomorrow.

The striker, who has seven goals in all competitions for City this season, missed last week’s 3-1 defeat to Ebbsfleet United due to suspension.

And after failing to convert a host of chances without him, coach Mark Jones is hopeful Fondop’s return will provide a boost this weekend.

“Mike has scored a lot of goals for us,” he said.

“He’s still quite young and there are lots of areas that need improving, but he has a knack of getting in the right areas and scoring goals.

“We’re obviously delighted for James Roberts that he got his first goal last week and hopefully more will follow.

“But with Mike returning it gives us another option up front.”

Illness means that City are waiting on Freddie Grant and Martin Ofosu, which could leave them short of

numbers.

And while there will be no new additions before this weekend, Jones revealed that City hope to add to the squad in the coming weeks.

“We’d like to add one or two more to the side,” he said.

“With Jonny Giles returning to Oxford United and Kynan Isaac leaving, there’s certainly room in the squad for a couple of additions.

“Obviously we have some fantastic young players at the club, but our first-team squad is down to about 15 players now, so it’s quite thin.”
