NORTH Leigh came from behind to win 2-1 at home to Bideford in a tight Division 1 South & West tie on Saturday.

Bideford who were relegated from the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division last season, took the lead after 34 minutes when unmarked midfielder Sean Dowling fired home from 15 yards via the inside of a post.

With Jamie Cook starting his first game since recovering from a hamstring injury, the Millers had enjoyed much of the play in the first half game and deservedly equalised on the stroke of half-time.

A pass was was threaded through to James Murphy, who timed his run perfectly, drew the keeper Josh Colwill and clipped a left-foot shot past him from ten yards.

Early in the second half, striker Billy Tucker twice went close for Bideford before the hosts scored the winner in the 58th minute.

From a corner taken by Michael Hopkins, recent signing Matt Sysum was on hand to head firmly past Colwill at the near post.

Bideford reacted well to their setback and attacked at every opportunity.

Home keeper Manny Agboola saved well from Tucker to secure the three points that moves the Millers up to seventh.
