DECLAN Benjamin struck a late goal to earn Didcot Town a comeback 3-2 win at Slimbridge in Division 1 South & West of the Evo-Stik Southern League on Saturday.

The Railwaymen fought back after twice trailing in the first half.

They went behind in the 22nd minute when Lee Smith’s header beat Kieran Beesley, who was in goal for the suspended Leigh Bedwell.

The visitors equalised on the half-hour through Ben Whitehead.

Two minutes later, Slimbridge’s Adam Mace scored a penalty, which was awarded for handball against Jordan Graham.

Didcot continued to press and they made it 2-2 after 36 minutes when great combination play saw left back James Organ fire home his ever goal for the club with his weaker right foot, after being set up by Whitehead.

Slimbridge pressed for a winner throughout the second half, but it was Didcot who snatched the winner ten minutes from time when Declan Benjamin’s 16-yard strike found the back of the net.
