DANNY Nicholls is confident Oxford City are going in the right direction ahead of Wealdstone’s visit to Marsh Lane in Vanarama National South tonight.

A 2-0 defeat at Hemel Hempstead Town on Saturday did not tell the whole story, with City’s only failure an inability to convert chances.

Nicholls, City’s joint manager, said: “It’s the best we’ve played in three games – we looked like we are starting to come together as a team.

“We created so many chances and it keeps myself and the players positive. If we carry on the way we’re going we’ll win more games than we lose.”

City hope Lee Henderson will have recovered from the stomach bug which forced him off on Saturday, while winger Tom Winters will have a fitness test before the game.

Mike Ford is calling on newly-promoted Banbury United to make the most of their purple patch ahead of the trip to Dunstable Town.

A 4-0 win over King’s Lynn Town on Saturday sent the Puritans top of the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division, with three successive victories.

With their 100 per cent record still intact, Ford is calling on his players to keep the hammer down.

He said: “We have got to make the most of it.

“There will always be a spell where we struggle, but we need to make sure we get as many points as we can in this period.”

They are boosted, as last season’s top-scorer Ricky Johnson returns from illness.

Didcot Town, still seeking their first Division 1 South & West win, welcome back striker Ryan Brooks at home to Winchester City.

Brooks, who has been on holiday, is added to the squad that went down 2-0 away to Paulton Rovers on Saturday.

The Railwaymen are still without the injured Luke Carnell, Nick Thorne and Alex Woodhouse.

Wantage Town add Gerard Jones, Aaron Ferris and Mason Thompson to their squad for the match at home to Evesham.

North Leigh, who lost 3-2 at home to AFC Totton on Saturday, visit Mangotsfield United, while Kidlington are at Marlow in Division 1 Central.
