MIKE Ford believes momentum will be the key to success for Banbury United in their play-off campaign.
The Puritans host Winchester City tonight in their Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West play-off semi-final.
Banbury’s impressive 2-0 victory over Taunton Town on Saturday – the seventh from their final eight games – ensured home advantage in both the semi-final and also if United reach the final.
But more important to Ford is his side go into the games full of confidence.
“Winning on Saturday was huge for us,” Ford said.
“It means we go into it as the form side and it’s provided us with a confidence boost at just the right time.”
Ford has a full squad to choose from and his men will have the backing of a large and enthusiastic crowd.
He said: “The club was on its knees this time last year, so whatever happens we’ve just got to enjoy it.”
If successful, Banbury will entertain either Taunton or Swindon Supermarine in the final on Monday, May 2.
TONIGHT’S SQUAD
