Oxford City boss Justin Merritt revealed keeper Laurie Walker did not know why he had been sent off in their 2-2 draw at Dartford on Saturday.

Merritt said: “Normally players will say afterwards ‘yeah I’ve fouled him’ or whatever.

“As far as Laurie’s concerned he’s made a save and ultimately been sent off for not a lot.

“I don’t usually like to comment, but I thought the referee was well out of his depth today.

“He was poor throughout and I thought to give a straight red card for something like that when there were so many players around him was just an amazing decision.

“Their management couldn’t believe it, we couldn’t believe it and the players couldn’t believe it.”

“The standards of the players at this level are professional now.

“And it’s not the first time, in my opinion, that the officials have been found wanting.

“I’m not afraid to say it – it’s just week in, week out frustration.”
