SAM Collier struck an amazing five goals as Wantage Town hammered Bishops Cleeve 7-1 in the Evo-Stik Southern League on Saturday.

This stunning result all but ensures Stuart Cattell’s side safety in Division 1 South & West, with rivals Burnham needing to win both remaining games to overtake them.

Wantage’s victory was all the more remarkable as they went behind to Kirk Layton’s eighth-minute goal.

Collier responded with first-half hat-trick concluded by a penalty in injury time.

The striker added two more in the first ten minutes of the second half to make it 5-1. His five goals came in 40 minutes.

Further efforts from Sam Barder and Jake Johns completed the scoreline.
