WANTAGE Town could be in for a nervy ending to the season, according to boss Stuart Cattell.

With two matches remaining in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West, the Alfredians are five points clear of Burnham in the final relegation spot.

And with their closest rivals taking on already-relegated Bashley tomorrow, failure to avoid defeat at home to Bishops Cleeve could cut their advantage to just two points.

“I think we’re all a bit apprehensive about what’s going to happen between now and the end of the season,” said Cattell.

“It’s difficult not to look at how Burnham are doing and just focus on our own results.

“It’s still in our hands though. So if we focus on getting the points that we need we don’t need to worry about what’s going on elsewhere."

“We are under pressure, but we’re still in a better position than Burnham are and we need to remember that.

Town are depleted in midfield, with Nick Kalakoutis unavailable and Matt Clarke out with an ankle injury, while Gio Wrona hopes to shrug off illness to feature.

Banbury United welcome back captain Andy Gunn as they attempt to regain top spot away to Yate Town.

The Puritans were knocked off the summit when Cinderford Town won 2-1 at AFC Totton on Tuesday night, but manager Mike Ford isn’t concerned by the form of Banbury’s rivals.

He said: “We just have to make sure we go to Yate not burdened by the pressure of having to win the game and play with freedom.

“If we do our business, then other sides have to do theirs.

“If they slip up we want to make sure we’re in a position to capitalise.”

Didcot Town are without Alex Woodhouse (thigh), Lewis Noble (knee) and Jack Self (ankle) as they entertain Tiverton Town.

The Railwaymen were beaten 5-1 by the same opposition earlier in the season and player-manager Andy Ballard is eyeing revenge.

He said: “A lot of the players remember that game and losing like that wasn’t nice, so I expect them to be super focused and extra motivated to avenge that result and show them we’re not a 5-1 team.”

Graham Edney, Ryan Barney and George Reid are all restored to the squad.

North Leigh look to pick up where they left off away to Evesham United.

Callum McNish netted the opener and Jamie Cook bagged a brace as the Millers won 3-1 at home to Wimborne Town on Wednesday night to extend their unbeaten run to four matches.
