BANBURY United opened up a two-point lead at the top of the Division 1 South & West table after beating AFC Totton 3-0 at home.

Goals from Ricky Johnson, Felipe Barcelos and Darius Browne secured the victory, with nearest rivals Cinderford Town drawing 0-0 with North Leigh.

Banbury started well in the Evo-Stik Southern League clash, with Barcelos seeing an effort cleared off the line.

Totton went close on 22 minutes when Jack Harding tipped over Dylan Knight’s header.

Moments later, Banbury’s Jack Westbrook saw a shot cleared off the line, but their pressure took its toll on 41 minutes.

After a short corner, Charlie Wise hit a post and Mark Bell was foiled by keeper Victor Silvestre, but Johnson was on hand to fire home the loose ball.

Barcelos made it 2-0 after half-time, slotting home on 54 minutes.

Banbury put the game to bed on 76 minutes when Browne emphatically found the top corner from 25 yards.

North Leigh's point at home to Cinderford was made all the more remarkable after they played with ten-men for 32 minutes.

Stuart Hole had a long range effort saved early on for the Millers, while the visitors did find the net, but it was disallowed for offside.

Callum McNish was shown a second yellow for an alleged dive.

But the Millers dug deep and Jon Steedman had an effort saved.

Cinderford piled on the pressure, but the hosts held on.

Didcot Town drew 1-1 at Wimborne.

The Railwaymen were missing several key players, with Mark Janes injured, while Jack Self and Graham Edney were absent.

Wimborne took the lead through James Stokoe’s 12th-minute header.

Didcot got back on level terms just before the break as Luke Carnell headed home Lewis Noble’s corner.

It took until the final 15 minutes for both sides to mount serious pressure.

Jack Longford and James Organ both had efforts cleared off the line, but Didcot had to settle for a point.
