North Leigh manager Mark Gee admitted his side’s hopes of an Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West play-off place now hang by a thread.

The Millers host Mangotsfield United tomorrow looking to shorten the 11-point gap to fifth place, but after last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to AFC Totton, North Leigh need a major upturn in form.

“We’re now behind where we need to be at this stage in the season,” said Gee.

“After a flying start, we find ourselves playing catch-up again.

“We need to be hitting this stage of the season in form and we haven’t done that. The fact is, it’s not in our hands any more.”

Right back Zak Westlake returns from suspension, while Matt Woodley and James Foster are unavailable.

Wantage Town are looking to close in on hosts Bridgwater Town, one place above them in the table, as they seek to put further distance between themselves and the relegation zone.

But player-manager Stuart Cattell has warned his side that they’re not safe yet.

He said: “We need to get points on the board and make sure we’re safe, first and foremost.

“If we do that then we can start to look upwards – we’ve been looking beneath us most of the season, so it would be nice to be able to start eyeing the teams above us.”

Broken ribs mean Cattell misses out and there’s also a a doubt over defender Carl Evans with a dead leg, while midfielder Nick Kalakoutis is unavailable.

Callum White (knee) is Banbury United’s only absentee as they try to regain top spot at home to Shortwood United.

The Puritans were knocked off the summit on Wednesday night by Cinderford Town’s 2-0 win at Slimbridge, but manager Mike Ford is not downhearted.

He stated: “I’m not bothered about our position right now. It’s where you are at the end of the season that counts. Our sole focus is on producing a performance.”

An injury crisis leaves Didcot Town boss Andy Ballard with a dilemma ahead of the trip to Yate Town.

Jack Powell misses out with a broken wrist, while there are also doubts over Jack Self, George Reid (both ankle) and Ryan Barney (back).

“We may have to call up a few from the youth team and the reserves, but that just means they have a great opportunity,” said Ballard.

Jack Longford is suspended.
