Oxford City will face a rematch with Vanarama National League side Woking in the third round of the FA Trophy if they can overcome Cheltenham Town in Wednesday night’s second round replay.

City’s run in the competition last season came to an end in a replay at Woking, going down 2-1 after seeing defender Alejandro-Adrian Santiago harshly sent off.

But general manager Justin Merritt said it would give his side an opportunity to set the record straight.

“We obviously know what Woking are like after last year,” he said.

“It would be nice to keep 11 men on the pitch this time, but if we get through we’ll be underdogs, there’s no pressure and we have a chance to have a go at them.

“I’m still pleased that we’re drawing teams from the league above us, because the players are very good at raising their game for this kind of occasion.”

City’s Oxfordshire Senior Cup quarter-final tie at home to Banbury United, which was due to be played this evening, has been postponed because of tomorrow’s FA Trophy replay at Cheltenham.
