RICKY Johnson bagged a four-timer as Banbury United moved back into the play-off places with a commanding 5-0 win over Larkhall Athletic.

It turned out to be a day of celebrations as the Puritans welcomed former players to mark 50 years since the club changed its name from Banbury Spencer.

A Neil Arndale own goal put the hosts ahead in the second minute of the Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West fixture.

Johnson then doubled their advantage from the penalty spot and added another from six yards.

He then headed home to complete his hat-trick five minutes before the break.

Banbury controlled proceedings and Johnson converted from close range to make it 5-0 on 86 minutes.

The Millers had a golden opportunity to take the lead when Morgan Williams was fouled in the area, but Jamie Cook’s penalty was saved by Jake Viney.

The hosts broke the deadlock on 48 minutes when a mix-up between Stuart Hole and goalkeeper James Foster allowed Isaac Reid a tap-in.

Callum McNish headed an equaliser, but Reeko Best fired past Foster with six minutes to go.

Luke Carnell headed them into a fifth-minute lead, but the visitors equalised through Paul Fahy.

Adam Learoyd restored the Railwaymen’s lead on 61 minutes, before Jack Powell, who was sent off late on, sealed victory, curling an effort into the top corner.
