KIDLINGTON ended a 39-year-wait to reach the fifth round of the FA Vase, battling past Knaphill to earn a 3-2 victory.

The Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division side will now travel to Cleethorps Town in the last 16 on January 30.

Kidlington had their Combined Counties League Premier Division opponents on the back foot early on and Anaclet Odhiambo put them ahead.

And it was 2-0 with 33 minutes on the clock, Henry Owen heading home.

Danny Taylor pulled a goal back, but the hosts sealed victory thanks to Eric Odihambo’s fine solo effort.

Jack Mazzone replied, but Kidlington held on.

Meanwhile, Ade Talabi scored a hat-trick as Ardley United thumped Royal Wootton Bassett 7-1 in the Premier Division.

It was only 1-0 at the break, thanks to Reece Bayliss’ free-kick, but the game turned on the introduction of second half substitutes Talabi and Elias Katsoloudi.

The latter doubled the lead, before Talabi headed a third.

Steve Robertson netted for the visitors, but Jacob Daffern scored straight from a corner to make it 4-1.

Talabi then added two more for this hat-trick, sandwiching another Katsoloudi effort.
