A firsit-half header from Ricky Johnson and a late Zac McEachran strike gave Banbury United at 2-0 win against Yate that moves them into the Division 1 South & West play-off places in the Evo-Stik Southern League.

Banbury took the lead in the 21st minute, when McEachran’s corner from the right saw Johnson head home.

Just after half-time, Johnson had an effort disallowed for offside.

Banbury always looked dangerous on the break and seven minutes from time sealed victory with their second goal.

From George Nash’s through ball, McEachran fired into the bottom corner from the edge of the penalty area.
