DIDCOT Town will treat tomorrow’s televised Emirates FA Cup first-round clash as their final.

That is the view of Exeter City boss Paul Tisdale, whose Sky Bet League Two side will be hoping to avoid another embarrassing defeat in front of the cameras.

The Grecians aim to make it past the opening round for first time since 2009, and last year lost to Warrington Town at the same stage.

Warrington were the lowest-ranked team left in the competition – as are Didcot – and Tisdale is eager for history not to repeat itself.

He believes the players involved last year will draw extra motivation.

“I think so,” he said.

“I certainly think they will remember that it was not a nice experience.”

He added: “Sunday is an FA Cup tie against a team from a very low tier of football – it is a cup final for the opposition.

“I have been with a very low-ranked team that has got to the first round and drawn a Football League team, so I know what it is like.

“It will be a huge game for them and, with such emotion and optimism around the place, we have to go in and be professional.”
