DIDCOT Town’s players and staff will get a taste of Emirates FA Cup glamour ahead of their televised first-round tie against Exeter City on Sunday.

Following an extra training session tomorrow evening, managers Ian Concannon and Jamie Heapy have arranged an overnight stay at a hotel for the side – despite the fact the match is at home.

“We’re doing things properly,” said Concannon.

“We don’t normally stay in a hotel the night before a game, but we’re trying to take all the media attention away from the players and let them concentrate on what they do best.”

Top scorer Mark Janes could return to the side following his recovery from a hamstring injury.

The forward, who has six goals in the competition, was taken off early in the 4-2 win over Brentwood Town in the previous round, moments after netting their first goal.

Striker Mark Francis is also likely to return from a knee injury, while Heapy has shrugged off a thigh problem.

For Heapy, the opportunity to be involved in causing an FA Cup upset is a mouth-watering opportunity.

He said: “Last year Exeter went out to Warrington and we all watched it on telly.

“They’ve probably learned from that and are well aware of what the FA Cup brings.

“It’s 90 minutes of football at the end of the day and you never know what could happen.”
