A week before their glamour FA Cup glamour tie at home to Exeter City, Didcot Town bowed out of the FA Trophy on Saturday.

The Railwaymen lost 1-0 in the first round away to Ryman League Division 1 side Molesey.

The only goal came after only five minutes when Ollie Robinson rose the highest to head home for the hosts.

Didcot’s best chance came in the second half when Josh Dutton-Black shot tamely when through on goal.

While Didcot continued to press late on, Reis Stanilaus had two golden opportunities to put the settle the tie for Molesey but was denied by Didcot keeper Leigh Bedwell.

Didcot were unable to get a late equaliser despite the hosts being reduced to ten men when Rob Sheridan was sent off in the 89th minute.

Despite a strong finish, North Leigh went down 2-1 away to Cirencester Town.

After going 2-0 behind early on, they they hit back strongly with a late surge that saw Jamie Cook pull back a goal.

Then Sam Elkins had an effort controversially ruled out for offside and further efforts from Cook and Miles Welch-Hayes were inches away from levelling the game.

The Millers paid for a poor first hour.

After 26 minutes, striker Charlie Griffin nodded home a corner to put Molesey ahead.

Then on 50 minutes, home skipper Leigh Henry headed in.

Attendance: 85 Banbury United battled hard to earn a goalless draw away to Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division side Hungerford Town to earn a replay at Spencer Stadium tomorrow night.

After a first half of few chances, Banbury had the best chances after the break.

Louis Joyce miskicked his shot when through on goal.

Then Zac McEachran’s shot from 30 yards had too much sting for Paul Strudley, but the keeper gathered at the second attempt.
