Kidlington paid for failing to make the most of their chances as they drew 2-2 after extra time at home to Ashford Town in the first round of the FA Vase.

Although Kidlington were quicker out of the blocks, they found themselves behind after eight minutes when Bradley Wainwright scored a deflected goal for the Combined Counties League visitors.

However Eric Odhiambo levelled for Kidlington on 20 minutes.

The hosts seemed likely winners when Lewis Coyle put them ahead in the 73rd minute with an unstoppable drive.

But seven minutes from time they conceded an equaliser to Max Webb.

Extra time brought no further goals and the teams will replay at Ashford tomorrow night.

l Ardley United went down 3-1 away to new leaders Thatcham Town in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division on Saturday.

Goals from Tom Morgan and Josh Baines put Thatcham ahead in a dominant first half-hour, before Chris Jackson pulled back a goal for Ardley before the interval.

Ardley had more of the game in the second half, but conceded a goal to Josh Helmore.

George Reid could have an early hat-trick for Abingdon United, but it was hosts Lydney who took a 2-0 interval lead through Pete Mack and Richard Keir.

Jarred Lyddington’s free-kick made it 3-0, before Elliott Powell scored for Abingdon, who lost 3-1.

First-half goals from Tom Rowe and Luke Faircloth gave Letcombe a 2-1 win at home to Clanfield in Division 1 West.

Clanfield’s reply came from Ben Allen before half-time.
