DAVID King will be included in Oxford City’s squad for the first time as they host bottom side Weston-super-Mare in Vanarama National League South tomorrow afternoon.

The former MK Dons midfielder signed for City this week from National League South rivals Hemel Hempstead Town and is available for selection, although he is unlikely to start tomorrow.

“I’m delighted, because a number of other clubs wanted to sign him,” said general manager Justin Merritt.

“We tried to get him in the summer, because he’s a player that I’ve long admired.

“But he was under contract at Hemel and they didn’t want to let him go.

“He was arguably Hemel’s player of the season last year and there were Football League clubs looking at him before he got injured.”

City are looking to make an immediate recovery after falling to their first defeat of the season at Havant & Waterlooville last weekend.

The visitors are still searching for their first point of the season and Merritt believes this is the perfect time to collect a first win at Marsh Lane following draws in City’s two opening home fixtures.

“We want our first home win of the season and if we apply ourselves properly I expect us to get it,” he said.

“We want to win every game, but we know that’s not going to happen.

“At this stage, it’s most important that we try and keep in touch while our new players adjust and keep getting points on the board."

City are at full strength as winger Kynan Isaac returns from a dead leg.
