DIDCOT Town joint boss Ian Concannon believes his side’s promotion credentials will be put to the test when they welcome fellow contenders Taunton Town to the Draycott Engineering Loop Meadow tomorrow afternoon.

Both the Railwaymen and their guests have taken six points from their opening two Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West matches.

And Concannon feels both could be competing towards the top of the table this season.

He said: “Saturday’s going to be a real test for us, because come the end of the season I have no doubt that Taunton will be right up there.

“If we want to be considered for promotion then we have to do well against the teams around us and I have no doubt that Taunton will be one of the teams to beat this season.”

Defender Luke Carnell, who netted a hat-trick in Tuesday’s 5-1 thrashing of Bishops Cleeve, is unavailable, but Concannon felt his treble was indicative of Didcot’s goal threat in all areas.

“We can’t be reliant on just one or two people to get all our goals, so we’re aiming for it to be evenly spread throughout the team this season,” he added.

Andy Ballard is restored to the Didcot squad, while Sam Elkins also returns from an ankle injury.

Continuity is the key to North Leigh’s successful start to the season, according to manager Mark Gee.

The Millers made just one permanent addition to their squad in the summer, but will look to make it three wins from three when they make the trip to pointless Wimborne Town tomorrow.

“In pre-season we were a bit undercooked, but what we did have was the benefit of not having to find a pattern of play,” said Gee.

“The players were all here last year and they know what we want and how to play, so there was never any problem there.”

Defender Stuart Hole is unavailable for the trip, with Jon Else (broken metatarsals) and Zak Westlake (unavailable) also miss out.

Banbury United travel to Bridgwater Town, while Wantage Town are away to Burnham.
