Wantage Town ended their first season in the Evo-Stik Southern League with a 1-0 victory away to Taunton Town, who are in the Division 1 South & West play-offs.
A spectacular goal by Adam Bruce gave Wantage victory to end a tricky campaign third from bottom, but six points clear of relegation.
Taunton dominated the first half, with the visitors’ keeper Gareth Tucker saving twice from Graham Mercieca, while Jake Johns had Wantage’s best effort.
The only score came in the 48th minute. Adam Bruce chested down a long ball wide on the left and sent a looping volley into the top right of the goal leaving keeper Lloyd Irish stranded.
A minute later, Wantage went close to doubling their lead with Ben Whitehead’s shot was pushed round a post.
Tucker made more fine saves, but was beaten by Jamie Price’s header in the last minute only for the effort to be ruled out for offside.
