Adi Yussuf scored twice and missed a penalty on Saturday as Oxford City finished their Vanarama Conference North campaign with a 4-2 victory over the side that pipped them for the the final play-off spot.

Before the game, Guiseley knew they had made the play-offs while City had missed out.

City’s victory means they finished sixth, just a point behind their Yorkshire visitors in the final play-off spot, although Guiseley finished with the better goal difference.

Tom Winters shot wide early on for City, while Guiseley’s Nicky Bushell tested keeper Mark Scott.

City should have taken the lead in the 11th minute, when awarded a penalty following a foul on Declan Benjamin.

But Yussuf ’s spot-kick lacked venom and was easily saved by keeper Steve Dickinson.

However, 60 seconds later City were in front after Lee Henderson converted a header.

They made it 2-0 in the 28th minute when Yussuf made amends for his penalty miss by firing home.

Guiseley looked dangerous, with Alex Johnson shooting into the side-netting.

City led 2-0 at half-time, but within nine minutes, the teams were level.

Guiseley pulled a goal back from a free-kick awarded for Scott handling a back-pass, Liam Dickinson’s shot taking a deflection to beat the City keeper.

Less than a minute later, Guiseley made it 2-2 through Adam Boyes.

City regained the lead in the 70th minute, when Winters fired home into the far corner of the net following good work from Jeremy Balmy.
