Wantage Town threw away a 2-0 lead as they fell to a 5-2 defeat at Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West high-fliers Evesham United yesterday.
But despite the loss, Wantage are still eight points above the drop zone.
Ben Whitehead gave Wantage a third-minute lead from the penalty spot and it got even better for Daniel Barry’s side on 16 minutes when the same player doubled their lead.
However, Evesham hit back in devastating style with goals from Ashley Edenborough (2), Nick Stanley, Adam Mann and Matt Sysum completing Wantage's misery.
