I WRITE to express my grave concern that your reporting of my case against the Inland Revenue significantly omitted the severe criticism made of the Inland Revenue by Lord Reed.

I brought this claim (and will now appeal) because I am convinced that the Revenue has abused its powers acting under political influence and has unjustly singled me out from other similar taxpayers for a sweeping investigation into my tax affairs. Lord Reed accepted that my claim was understandable given the Revenue's ''excessive reticence'' in explaining its actions and the evidence I had uncovered regarding its motivation in seeking to attack me. Most significantly, however, Lord Reed branded senior Revenue officials as ''not reliable'' and ''untruthful'' under oath and criticised the Revenue's conduct. You failed to report these comments even though it is of the utmost importance that government officials act with absolute probity and rectitude.

Lord Reed also made it clear that there was no allegation or evidence of any wrongdoing against me although this was not reflected in your report.
