Goalkeepers Salva de la Cruz and Mark Scott will both return to the Oxford City squad tonight for their Vanarama Conference North trip to Chorley, writes Matthew Bruce.

Both missed Saturday’s 4-3 defeat to Tamworth due to suspension, forcing City to field a midfielder in goal for the fourth time in five weeks after replacement Ali Aksoy was sent off.

It will be the first time general manager Justin Merritt has been able to have a keeper on the bench since City’s FA Trophy clash with Woking last month.

Merritt is looking put a bizarre run of four red cards in six league matches for his goalkeepers behind him.

“It was a difficult situation we found ourselves in and not one we’d like to repeat, to be honest,” he said.

“It’s been a bizarre situation, with Mark Scott’s injury and both their suspensions overlapping, but we’re very pleased to have them back.”

Marlon Jackson is a doubt with a hamstring strain while Aksoy’s spell at the club is over following his red card.

Oxford City squad (v Chorley, away): from Salva, Scott, Coulson, Stonehouse, Fofana, Henderson, Lapoujade, Jackson, Pond, Yussuf, Rodriguez, Benjamin, Winters, Santiago, Wilson, Barcelos, Del Alamo.
