Cambridge City 6

Banbury Utd 1

Banbury United remain rooted to the bottom of the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division after being blown away by Cambridge City’s second-half blitz.

The Puritans, who included Shepherd Murombedzi in their ranks after he rejoined from Oxford City, were holding the hosts 1-1 at half-time, but caved in after the break.

City opened the scoring after 11 minutes when Fejiri Okenadirhie slotted home.

Banbury levelled ten minutes later after Jordan Green was brought down in the area. Guy Tahin’s penalty struck a post, but went in after hitting goalkeeper James Head on the backside.

Cambridge regained the lead in the 62nd minute when Josh Dawkin’s free-kick went across the six-yard box and into the far corner.

Two minutes later, it was 3-1 when Dawkin rifled home a penalty awarded for handball.

Banbury fell further behind in the 70th minute as Andrew Phillips raced through.

Five minutes later, Phillips lobbed Bedwell from close in, and Buster Harradine’s 25-yard strike in the last minute sealed Banbury’s woe.
