OXFORD City have signed striker Paulo Mendes and winger Helge Orome ahead of Saturday’s Vanarama Conference North trip to local rivals Brackley Town, writes MATTHEW BRUCE.

Portuguese forward Mendes learned his trade at a Lisbon academy before coming to England for spells with Nantwich Town and Vauxhall Motors.

The 21-year-old started this season at Colwyn Bay, but was released by new manager Gus Williams last month.

Former Ivory Coast Under 21 Orome joins City following spells with several Ryman League clubs including Bromley, Cray Wanderers and, most recently, Grays Athletic.

Meanwhile, City's Vanarama Conference North home match against North Ferriby United last night was postponed due to a frozen pitch at Marsh Lane.

The Oxfordshire Senior Cup quarter-final clash between North Leigh and Old Woodstock Town also fell to the weather.
