John Mills bagged a brace to take his tally for the season to 37 goals as Didcot Town moved up to third in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West with a win which extended their unbeaten league run to 17 games.

The Railwaymen were dominant in the first half, and took a deserved lead when Josh Dutton-Black finished off a well-worked team goal.

Mills doubled the lead before the break from the penalty spot after Dutton-Black was fouled by Taureen Manders.

Sholing came more into the game in the second half and they pulled a goal back when substitute Sam Wilson volleyed home with his first touch.

With Sholing looking dangerous, Didcot broke away and Jack Self’s ball into Mills was fired home by the deadly striker.

Ryan Brooks, who made a rare start, was a threat throughout and had a number of chances, but was unable to beat Sholing keeper Rory Anderson.

Despite Didcot’s unbeaten run, they hadn’t won a match since December 9 – having drawn their last three – and Saturday’s victory will give them a much-needed boost as they prepare to visit AFC Totton on Tuesday.
