Didcot Tn 1

(Elkins 49)

North Leigh 1

(Cook 89)

A last-minute goal by Jamie Cook earned North Leigh a draw at Didcot Town yesterday as both sides extended unbeaten runs in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West.

Connor Ingram capitalised on a poor backpass in the last minute from Didcot’s James Organ and fed Cook, who tapped home to ensure a share of the spoils in the derby clash.

Substitute Sam Elkins had given Didcot the lead four minutes into the second period.

After coming on at half-time, Elkins put in a dangerous corner only for the ball to be returned to him and his shot went straight through a number of North Leigh players.

Didcot thought they should have had a penalty before the equaliser when John Mills was brought down by keeper Matt Bulman when through on goal.

However, the referee adjudged the incident took place just outside the area, and awarded a free-kick and showed only a yellow card to the visiting keeper.

And it was North Leigh that had the last word with Cook’s late leveller.
