Didcot Town face their biggest match since their FA Vase triumph in 2005 when they travel to Vanarama Conference side Forest Green Rovers tomorrow, according to joint- boss Ian Concannon.

The Railwaymen have reached the first round of the FA Trophy for only the second time in their history and they are determined to enjoy it.

And Concannon who, along with fellow manager Jamie Heapy, was part of that famous Vase-winning side has likened this season’s exploits to their own success nine years ago.

“People have been looking back to the FA Vase run years ago and it all provides an incentive,” he said.

“This is our biggest game since we won the Vase in 2005.

“It’s really big for us to play in this stage of a national FA competition against such a well-respected and well-established Conference side as Forest Green.

“But we’re not treating it as just a day out, we want to give a good account of ourselves.

“We’re going to go there and give it a go and you never know what could happen.”

Concannon admits his side face a tough task to defeat Forest Green, who are sixth in the Conference after beating Woking 2-1 at their New Lawn home on Tuesday.

But he feels Didcot have the quality to cause an upset.

“Confidence has been high for numerous weeks,” said Concannon.

“We’re unbeaten in the league since the end of August.

“And we’ve only really been beaten in a few secondary cup competitions where we changed things around.

“The lads have got belief in themselves and we know we can beat anybody.”

He added: “We don’t put any pressure on the players or on the squad at all.

“Jamie and I deal with all the pressure.

“We’ve set high standards so far this season and they deserve a big game for what they’ve done.

“I just hope they can go out there and enjoy themselves and that they have no regrets at the end.”

Didcot have a clean bill of health going into the enco-unter, with Concannon and Heapy likely to name an unchanged squad for the third game in succession.
