Oxford United youngsters AJ George and Lewis Hayden could make their Banbury United debuts in tomorrow’s Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division trip to Weymouth, writes Matthew Bruce.

The pair joined the Puritans during the week on work experience after Josh Shama and Aidan Hawtin returned to the U’s following the conclusion of their loan spells.

Manager Paul Davis admitted it was a blow to lose the duo, but is excited to see his new recruits in action.

“If you’ve got a contract with Oxford United, whether as a senior pro or a scholar, you’re going to be a good footballer.

“We’re looking forward to seeing what they can do and they’re looking forward to coming here and playing some competitive football.

“(Shama and Hawtin) have been fantastic, I can’t fault either of them.

“They’ve been in as long as I have.

“They both played in my first game in charge and they were with us right up until Saturday.

“So this will be the first game we’ve had without either of them involved and it will feel very strange not to have them around.”

Davis hasn’t ruled out a return for either player, adding: “Hopefully we can bring them back.

“I’m in contact with Mickey Lewis at Oxford United all the time and I appreciate his help.”

Defender Tom Fishwick will miss out after breaking a bone in his foot in Saturday’s FA Trophy defeat at home to Ramsbottom United.

But Banbury, who enjoyed a confidence-boosting 11-1 win over Wolverton Town in the Buckingham Charity Cup in midweek, are boosted by the return of Joel Meade.

TOMORROW’S SQUAD

Banbury Utd (v Weymouth, away): from Bedwell, Cray, Martin, Hartigan, Meade, Westbrook, Talabi, Walcott, Green, Mzungwana, White, Howards, Tappin, Ryan, George, Hayden.
