Oxford City boss Justin Merritt is confident his side could challenge anyone in the FA Trophy, writes Matthew Bruce.

Clubs from the top flight of the Vanarama Conference enter today’s first-round draw and Merritt is relishing the opportunity to take on a higher-level side.

“I think it would be a great test for us to draw a Conference team,” he said.

“We don’t fear anybody and I think the type of football we play will be well received wherever we go and we can get results.”

Merritt added: “It was comfortable. We scored six goals and it could have been a lot more, but we were a bit too casual at times.”

Leading goalscorer Adi Yussuf again found the net as well as assisting Felipe Barcelos’s opener.

The former Lincoln City and Burton Albion striker has notched five goals in his last three games But he feels the credit should be shared with his teammates.

Yussuf said: “It’s a team game and the team’s been making it easy for me, so I’ve got to thank them.

“It was a great ball from Hendo (Lee Henderson) for my goal today and the rest was just a bit of luck.”
