Two goals from Adeyinka Talabi enabled Banbury to recover from the worst possible start and record a spirited 3-2  win over Marine in Saturday’s second qualifying round tie.

There were just 50 seconds on the clock, when Northern Premier League visitors took the lead.

Christian Langos ran on to a through ball from Andy Fowler and beat home keeper Leigh Bedwell from 12 yards.

Josh Shama, Banbury’s on loan striker from Oxford United, missed a golden chance to equalise five minutes later.

However, he made amends in the 19th minute when crosing from the right for Talabi head home from six yards to level the scores.

Less than two minutes later and Banbury were ahead.

Shama picked up the ball on the left, cut inside and took it to the edge of the Marine penalty area, when his low shot took a deflection before hitting the near post and nestling into the net.

In the 38th minute the hosts grabbed a two-goal cushion when Jordan Green slipped the ball inside to Talabi, who lifted the ball over keeper Matthew Cooper from a narrow angle.

Two minutes later, Marine reduced the deficit to just a single goal once more.

A free-kick from the halfway line was pumped into the Banbury penalty area.

The ball was cleared to Jonathan Goulding, who fired into the corner of the net from 15 yards.

Amazingly, that was the end of the scoring.

In the 67th minute, Marine were reduced to ten men when Neil Harvey was sent off for throwing a punch at Tom Fishwick.

The visitors did not threaten as Banbury went through.
